Embroidery Classes

For 2017, Embroidery Club will feature a series of different techniques and/or projects. Each month offers an opportunity to learn something new; and you should leave class with a completed project in hand! Please check listing for each month's specific technique and/or stop by the store to preview samples. Join us for creative ideas and lots of fun. Prerequisite: Embroidery Machine class or basic knowledge of embroidery.

2017 EmbroidaBlock of the month is all new with Charmed Adventure. Paper piecing, One Block Wonder Quilts, New techniques and more. Blocks designed to stitch in 30 minutes or less! Scheduled for 10-months, plus January's "planning period" we'll show you the latest designs and techniques for either Charmed Adventure or Elegant Elements. Also available for 2017 Block of the Month: Elegant Elements features textured blocks, a technique unique to the 2016 BOM program.

Join us each month for a full day with Linda and create a themed pillow. If you have too many pillows, consider a table runner, throw cover for sofa or bed and even a seasonal wall hanging. Stop by the store to preview samples of each months pillow.

Class Policies

Class Registration: All sewing classes and events must be pre-registered and paid at least one week in advance to hold your space. To provide quality education to each student, many classes have a limited number of seats available. Registration may be done in person, by phone or on-line using a credit card, check or cash. To help prevent class cancellations, students are encouraged to register early. So we can have everything ready for you and the other students, registration for a sewing class closes one week before a scheduled class. This allows us to make appropriate preparations and offer an available spot to other students who may be on the wait list. In the event you wish to bring someone with you to class, a separate class registration for that person is required.

Class Cancellation Policy: If Stony Brook Sew & Vac cancels a class due to low enrollment, teacher emergency or inclement weather, students will be notified by telephone or email. You will receive a refund of your payment for the class or credit to be used towards another class.

If you must cancel, kindly notify Stony Brook Sew & Vac via email or phone call to the store a minimum of one week before class for a full refund or store credit. NO refund will be given if you cancel lees than a week before class. Not showing up for a class forfeits any refund or exchange. No exceptions are made for the policy.

Class Supplies: Once you have registered for a class you will be emailed a list of supplies needed for the class. All supplies should be purchased prior to the day the class begins. Class time cannot be used to purchase supplies. All supplies and fabric are available at Stony Brook Sew & Vac. We are available to assist you with the selection of class supplies. In appreciation, students receive a 10% discount on all class supplies purchased at Stony Brook Sew & Vac. Due to copyright laws, if a book or pattern is required for a class, each student must purchase their own copy. There are no exceptions. Students should bring their own sewing machine with all of the appropriate parts (including the instruction manual). The student must be familiar with its basic operation (i.e. winding a bobbin and threading the machine) , and the machine must be in good working condition. Alternatively, a student may rent a sewing machine for $10 per class session. A student who experiences great difficulty with their sewing machine during class will need to rent a machine. It is critical for classroom time to focus on the class project. Therefore, minimal time is available for troubleshooting machine problems.

Please be considerate of others. Do not bring children to class, wear heavy perfume or use cell phones during class. Please be on time for class or better yet, come 15 minutes early to set up your sewing space. Classes begin and end promptly at the scheduled time.
